Well, I have been doing a lot of work on Version 5.1 and have found a ton of new bugs but also have added a ton more features than first thought. It is set in stone, version 5.1 will have HTML5 Video that is manipulated simply with a little bit of JavaScript/jQuery & CSS. This update is a massive one too, it will feature support for a lot of older browsers, mobile phones, iPads, iPod/iPhones, and printers. Here is an updated list of features:
I have received a lot of feedback from friends, clients, and total strangers about Version 5.0. The majority of the comments were somewhere along these lines:
You made this! Oh my cheddar cheese!!! The animation is beautiful, the graphics are to die for, and the way you have organized everything is brilliant. I look at this website and it seems to reflect your ever-growing dedication, knowledge, and creativity. – A former client
I have received some criticism and negative feedback:
Your portfolio projects are a little bit slippery, I didn’t know quite what to do with them. I would also like to be able to monitor the progress of the project online. That way I don’t have to disturb you at 4am – Another client
So what will Version 5.1 have in store? Well, let us take a look here. Version 5.1 is mainly about fixing some of the small bugs that appeared and adding three main features
For the past 4 late-nights, I have worked about 16 hours total of straight jQuery coding on the NHD website. As a result, my dreams somehow have transformed from the Hollywood cinemas to simply me coding the website. My wrists are hurting and my brain is throbbing. I am learning how to make a lot of the animation and functions myself. The result is turning out to be very pretty. I am actually quite impressed with the site and hope to finish it by this Monday.

Today was a very, actually, extremely tough day. From the get go I was working on the NHD website, trying to figure out how to make a rotating, random slideshow with various effects. Then I forgot to bring the flash drive with my STS homework to class (it was sitting on my desk at home). I did both Math homework and read a 45 page packet on MLA in less than 45 minutes. Now, I have to continue to work on the NHD website and finish the other homework. I would love to stay and blog some more, but I am completely worn out and my brain hurts.
Last night I sent in my site to the 14 Days of jQuery contest sponsored by Media Temple. I checked today and was not today’s winner, but, I still have a chance to win the grand prize. Very exciting. Today, I also am going to go to court to receive my official driver’s license.
I worked on the NHD website today. Embedding a video and making small design changes.
Well, finally, I made it to Thursday, January 21st, 2010 7:00pm and successfully uploaded my new website.
Really, it all started with trying to create a new Desktop Calendar for the Monthly Smashing Magazine Desktop Calendar Wallpaper contest. Then I accidentally added a draft of my submission into an html document (weird how those things happen eh?) and it looked beautiful.

Finally, it has arrived… Everything is in working order… The press statements are ready to launch and I am happy to announce, actually quite excited to announce that I was accepted into both Lynchburg College and Virginia Wesleyan College!
I am literally shaking right now. I am about to take probably the worst exam of my life in about an hour and a half. I am still checking the website to make sure everything is good. Downloading YSlow when I get home from my possibly, but most likely wicked, STS Exam to make sure everything is up to speed. I also started working on a masterpiece I wrote called The Days of Yore, a 34 minute long song that takes you on the adventure of a call girl and dilusional man.
After I arrived home from my exam, I contemplated, for probably the 400th time, installing a wordpress onto my site. I decided against it because the idea simply doesn’t fit. Instead, I decided to link it to my already existing wordpress. Tomorrow I have a meeting with Mr. Wolff, who wants me to do some work with him for a company called Defiant Creative.
Four days left till launch, I am getting really nervous. Even though the preloader seems to be working, I am nervous that it won’t work. Though, I can’t do anything about it because I am down at Methodist University, taking a tour. Talked with Dr. Chan, the computer science professor there. I now know that I will have trouble deciding where to go. (EVERYTHING LOOKS SO GOOD!). From Dr. Chan, it was best told that I apply for a CIT program, Computer Information Technology instead of pure Computer Science. I agree, Computer Science is basically just crazy math while Computer Information Technology is scripting, business, and communication. Which will help me more since I would like to focus on the web side of the computers.
